SafeKids ("we", "our", "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use our parental control application.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
- Name, email address, and profile photo
- Authentication credentials (hashed, never stored in plain text)
- Family profile data (children's names, ages, device info)
2.2 Child Device Data
- Location data: GPS coordinates collected at configurable intervals (default: every 5 minutes)
- App usage: Which apps are used, for how long, and how frequently
- Screen time: Total active device usage per day
- Device info: Device model, OS version, battery level
2.3 Automatically Collected
- FCM tokens for push notifications
- Crash logs and error reports (anonymized)
- App version and platform information
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide parental monitoring and control features
- Send push notifications (SOS alerts, screen time, geofence events)
- Generate activity reports for parents
- Improve app performance and fix bugs
- Process subscriptions and payments
- Respond to support requests
4. Data Storage & Security
Data is stored on secure servers (Google Cloud Platform). We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
- JWT-based authentication with token rotation
- Passwords hashed with BCrypt
- Access tokens expire after 24 hours; refresh tokens after 30 days
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. We may share data only with:
- Service providers: Google Cloud (hosting), Firebase (push notifications), payment processors
- Legal compliance: When required by law or to protect safety
- Co-parents: Family members you invite to share monitoring access
6. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
SafeKids is designed for use by parents to monitor their children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. All child data is collected through the parent's authorized setup and is accessible only to the authenticated parent account.
7. Data Retention
- Account data: retained while your account is active
- Location history: retained for 90 days, then automatically deleted
- App usage reports: retained for 30 days
- Upon account deletion: all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access and export your data
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Opt out of non-essential notifications
- Withdraw consent at any time by uninstalling the App
9. Third-Party Services
SafeKids integrates with:
- Google Firebase — push notifications and authentication
- Google Cloud Storage — avatar image storage
- Google Maps — location display
- Payment providers (Google Play, Apple IAP, Stripe, PayPal)
Each third-party service has its own privacy policy.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
